Want to be a SOC Analyst, Penetration Tester, Cloud Engineer, Security Engineer or AI Pro? Here are 7 Sites to Stay on the Cutting Edge.
You've got your certifications.
You've got an up to date resume.
You've got your hands on experience.
Now you need a job. So what else is there to do?
Before I get out of bed in the morning, I read these preset tabs on my phone. This is how I stay up to date each and every day.
If 25+ years in Tech / Cyber has taught me anything, it is that the learning never stops. It can be overwhelming at times, especially in the last few years.Â
Here are 7 Resources I use Daily:
Make sure you 📚 Bookmark this so you can pull them back up quickly.
1. TLDR - This site and newsletter is one of my favorites. It focuses on technology topics including AI, Infosec, Devops, Hardware, Startups, Big Data, and just technology in general. I don't get out of bed without reading my newsletter that comes in at 5am.
2. X - Twitter / X, whatever you want to call it, is real-time news. I currently use X-Pro (previously called Tweetdeck) and I build out columns based on things I want to have real-time news on. My columns includes keyword searches such as Infosec, CyberSecurity, Breach, Zero Day, Vulnerability, and others. Whether you like the platform or not, there is no other better way to get real-time news.
3. The Hacker News - This site has been around for a long time and always has the latest on what is going on in our industry. Their site currently categorizes topics into Data Breaches, Cyber Attacks, and Vulnerabilities.
4. Krebs on Security - Seriously, Brian Krebs is awesome. I have followed him for years and years. If I see a new headline in the news, I know that I can probably go to his site and read his full in depth report. He is one of the best Cyber Security Journalists on the planet.
5. BleepingComputer - I feel like this site has been around since the 1800's. This has been one of the best resources for me over the years. This site really doesn't miss anything when it comes to news.
6. CVEdetails - Yes, I'm a geek. This site really isn't pretty, but I find myself coming to it often to read on the new vulnerabilities that came out. You can sort it by CVSS Scores, Vendors, Products, Exploits, and so on.
7. DarkReading - Covering everything in Cyber, this site is fantastic and has a newsletter that you can signup for. I've been on it this week reading about events going on at Blackhat.
Emerging technologies like Cloud and AI have really made it even more challenging to keep up. If you are striving to be an expert at what you do (SOC Analyst, Pentesting, Security Engineering, AI, or Cloud) we have to stay up to date.
